Passport & CNIC Fees
Passport Configuration
These fees are standard estimates based on 2024 DGI&P and NADRA public schedules. Processing times are working days and can vary due to backlog or government holidays.
Understanding Document Fees in Pakistan
Obtaining or renewing identity and travel documents in Pakistan involves fixed fee schedules provided by NADRA (for CNIC/NICOP) and the DGI&P (for Passports). Fees vary primarily based on the speed of processing you require.
NADRA Smart CNIC & NICOP
- Smart CNIC: For local residents. Executive processing provides the card within a week, while normal processing takes about a month.
- NICOP: For Overseas Pakistanis. NADRA categorizes countries into two zones. Zone A (USA, UK, Middle East, Europe, etc.) has higher fees compared to Zone B. Payments are typically made in USD.
Machine Readable (MRP) vs. E-Passport
Pakistan is actively rolling out E-Passports which feature a highly secure biometric chip. While standard Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) are still issued and widely accepted globally, E-Passports are recommended for frequent travelers for faster clearance at e-gates worldwide. Naturally, E-Passports carry a higher issuance fee.
Processing Times
While official "Fast Track" and "Executive" processing times are advertised as 2 to 7 days, actual delivery times may occasionally be delayed during peak seasons or due to lamination paper shortages. Always plan ahead when applying for a passport renewal before an upcoming trip.
